Artist Review

This woman with her long backbone and strong legs is enjoying a quiet moment; she is washed clean, tying up her hair and getting ready for the day’s chores. 24 x 30 inch acrylic on canvas painting~ Artist-Gale Massey

Artist's Statement:

"I was inspired to attempt this female nude by studying several of Picasso paintings and sketches.  I believe the simple lines in this painting and the naked vulnerability of the figure speak to innate innocence.  As I worked on this painting I felt a kinship growing with this woman.  Days passed as IGale M.jpg was often too busy to bring out my paint and brushes, but she was always in my sight.  The work itself took two months; many hours of working and revising.  She is complete now; ready to move on where others can admire her strength"~ Gale Massey- Artist

The above painting has been donated by the artist in sponsorship of our upcoming "Women Taking Care of Music Event" on April 19 at the Palladium Theatre.

Stay tuned for full Artist Review of Gale Massey's work in May!

Note:  Acrylic paint is quick-drying paint containing pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints may be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Depending on how much the paint is diluted (with water) or modified with acrylic gels, mediums, or pastes, the finished acrylic painting can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with the other media.
